| What Could Have Been, What Should Have Been... |

I've noticed a lot of people doing their 'best of the decade' type posts this week, and with the 'noughties' turning into the 'teens' I can see why this is. And, as a comic writer who started during this decade, I certainly have a lot to crow about over the last six years. But rather than talk about the best things I wrote, or even the worst things that I wrote, I thought I'd talk about the things that never happened, that changed mid way, that got cancelled, that simply didn't occur the way I expected them to. Pitches with artists that never got anywhere, stories that simply died, others still lost in development hell. So settle down as I tell you, with often never-seen-before artwork (that if you right click and 'view as' will show the full size image) of the 'Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda' of my comic writing life.
( Click here for the art and words... )
Let's look forwards now to the next decade - and hope that it brings us just as much creation and excitement!

Designs have just been released for Bay South, an incredible botanical preserve topped with super-tall solar trees that is set to be Singapore’s largest garden project. Conceived by Grant Associates, the 101-hectare expanse of lush green space will be situated right next to the Marina Bay resort and will feature two botanical biospheres and a series of towering tree structures that double as vertical gardens.

TNT has been getting me into all these shows I never got into somehow like "Cold Case", "Las Vegas" and "Without a Trace". I wanna get more into their original shows too. I don't know I missed out on Leverage or missed that The Closer was in its FIFTH season. I can't believe I missed Dark Blue either. Too much TV, too little time? Not sure... but I definitely need be more aware of shows I'd really watch so I can avoid the junk just to be stimulated.
example: Except for Jericho's small cameo, RAW was a total flop. From beginning to end... there's another UNIVERSE under the ring! A UNIVERSE! Seriously??!

pussy pussy pussy - No Redeeming Social Value
HYPOTHETICALLY, if I were to run a store with any sort of pornographic material, I would do my best to...Equal Out the Genres.
Here's the thing about running a store, you sell any sort of material for a set amount of time, some material will sell better than others, say Material A sells better than Material 1, leading to a higher amount of Material A to appear in direct proportion to Material 1's dwindling place in a place of profit. That which sells less, appears less often.
However
If Material A happens to be hardcore submissive bondage, or exceedingly forceful plays of men dominating women, or even images of women moaning that pain means pleasure, and those sorts of Materials litter your porn section, choking out every other Material? It can be a little intimidating.
When you sell Material A for a high price and put it in a place of easily accessible area, there are bound to be crossovers. Unless you run a complete porn shack you WILL have children in your store, young adults, a veritable rainbow of age per person, ALL OF THEM WILL SEE THIS SECTION. It's also fairly one sided in your depictions.
The answer?
Wider range, broad space.
Wider range in selection of Materials, keeping those that may be more alarming than others in a different non-physical area. The internet? Figure out how to add more genres, what sort of porn interests girls? Omaha is a good hetero-genderless book, and so is Small Favors. Or Livejournal's own Finkenstein ?? The important thing is to faze out the stuff that favors one party in the power-sharing of sex.
Broad space, as in space to move around in broad enough that every different persuasion of fetish has space to move around and pick out what interests them most. It's gross rubbing against some fursuiter or crushing or shotacon or bondage fairy fetish-er, let them move around and work up the courage to act out their fantasies in real life w/o your assistance.
Porn is cool! Porn Diversity is best!
